Cannot Open the Reading Pane in Drafts Outlook 2003

I have always had a reading pane in the Drafts folder in Outlook since office
98.
I recently installed Office 2003, and naturally Outlook, and when I got to
the Drafts folder, No Reading Pane...! I have tried View/Reading Pane, but
the icons are grayed out...! I have also been into Tools/Options/ and to the
Reading Pane options on the Other tab, but there's nothing to do with use...!
I've also right clicked for the menu in the dafts window, and found something
on the Reading Pane, but nothing to help...!
Anybody got any ideas please...?

Why would you need a reading pane in an email you are composing? There is no
reading pane for the drafts folder. Make a sub folder if you need it for
certain emails. Preview pane will be available for that one.

Well Mary, I have always had a Reading Pane in my Drafts folder, and seeing
as you've asked, I keep mails that I may have begun and then thought better
of or mails that I've begun with succinct info about a subject and the
subject was resolved before it got sent, etc - etc. So when I go into my
Drafts folder, I am reminded of certain subjects, Items or friends etc...
And I can then simply click down the list and read my input as I like...
Currently, I have to open it into a whole new window, and if I was to create
a new and specific folder, I would probably just forget about it - and this
would certainly add to the list of over 200 odd folders that I'm already
currently working with...!
I don't want more work; it was fine just as it was in win 95, 98, 98+ or
whatever that was, 2000? and 2002 ...
Why should I have to change my way of working now after almost 10 years of
the same...?
Are you saying to me that it not available - period...?
I very much appreciate Microsoft moving forward and improving the way we
work. Goodness, 2003 is far cry from 95 or 98 - that's great, but there are
certain things that I like and don't want to change - and I've been several
months without this and during my spring clean routine thought I should use
some of the tools available now to resolve my misery...
Anyone else got any good news for me...?

Mary's correct. The Reading Pane is disabled for the Drafts folder, at
least in Outlook 2003.

Is there anyway that I can enable it...?

I do not believe so, but you said, "Well Mary, I have always had a Reading
Pane in my Drafts folder," which means to me that you believed you did have
it enabled. I didn't see how that could be true.

Morning Brian
Yes, I have always been able to read all unsent draft mails in the Drafts
folder, right the way back since 1998 when I first started with Win 95. I
then upgraded very quickley to W98 [also able] and then W98 + or whatever it
was called...
This has continued to be true until I installed Win 2003 in Nov/Dec 05...!
I understand the comment about why would I need it, but as I have said, I've
alway had it, and when I occasionalyy open Drafts, I expect to see the
content of the first or last read unsent mail there...
What have I got to tweak...?
Happy easter by the way - They don't have a Good Friday here in France! Nor
Hot Cross Buns either... I miss England!
regards
Lou
