cannot open pics

i used to be able to right click with the mouse and save pics but now when
i do this they dont save as pics they save as a "file" and my comp says
unsupported format cannot be opened why ???

For some reason Windows has lost (or never had) the file association with
the type of file you are attempting to access.

What is the file type (file extension)?

..exe +pps i could do this ok since i first got comp (6months) it stopped
last week ?

Maybe I missed something, but these extensions are not image files.

..exe is an executable file
..pps is a Microsoft Powerpoint extension.

all i can tell you is that after i had right clicked on a pic and saved in my
pictures i could go to my pictures on the picture was there..now when i do
this ,when i go to my pictures all that is ther is a square with a cog in it
(sorry about the technical lingo) and if i click on it to try open it all it
says is cannot be opened unsupported file format please select what you
(me)want to open it with ?? it worked ok until last week thank you for
your help so far
