On starting Outlook 2003 I get the following message: unable to open your
default e-mail folders. The files ***** \local settings\application
data\microsoft\outlook\outlook.pst is not a personal folders file.
If I do search for the outlook.pst file there is nothing to be found on the
computer. How can I start Outlook from scratch without reinstalling. Or is
there another way I can get the programme started?

The folder you name is a hidden folder and search will not normally look
inside it. You have to enable the advanced search options to search that
folder.

Make sure you properly configure a mail profile in Control Panel>Mail.
