Cannot Open Multiple Files via Right Click

I cannot right-click and select Open (or Print) if I have
have more than one file selected. The command is
available on the shortcut menu, but when I click it ,
nothing happens. I am using a Win XP/Office XP system.

FYI...This occurs with all file types, not just word
documents.

Can anyone help?
