Cannot open MS Office Outlook 2007

Lately when i have tried to open office outlook, I get a message saying
"Cannot open your default email folders. The file
C:\users\username\appdata\local\microsoft\outlook\outlook.pst cannot be
opened". As a result it never opens. I have tried uninstalling and
reinstalling and i continue to get the same message. My OS is Vista home
premium and I have MS Office outlook 2007 as part of MS Office Enterprise
2007. I believe the inability to open outlook is also affecting windows
mobile device center and keeps that program from syncing my mobile device,
because another program has caused it to stop working according to the error
code 0x85010014.

Can anyone help with getting outlook operational again.

Uninstalling and reinstalling rarely addresses this type of problem.

Try scanning the PST with thre Inbox Repair Tool, which should be on
Start>Programs>Microsoft Office>Office Tools. If you don't see it there,
it's %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Office\Office12\scanpst.exe. If that doesn't
help, try a new mail profile.

I don't have much experience with the Outlook Connector. Perhaps someone
else will be able to contribute.

When you made the new profile, did you do it from the Mail applet in Control
Panel and create a new mail profile, not copy the old one?

The error indicated that you created a Hotmail account using the Outlook
Connector when you created your new profile. Is that the case? It also
indicated tha you have not added a PST to the mail profile. If that the
case?

because when i created the new profile it asked me if i wanted to create a
pst and ost file. is said yes and it created both.

When did it ask you that?

Add your PST in the Mail applet using the Data Files tab.
