cannot open html files within email

Whenever I get an email with an html file in the body, all I see is a square
with a red x in the middle. How do I fix?

HTML is not affected in the manner you suggest. Images may
be. Choose Options from the Tools drop down menu. Click on
the Security tab. Then click on the Change Automatic
Download settings. Uncheck the box for Don't download
pictures or other content automatically in HTML e-mail
 
There isn't that option in Outlook. Where it does say in Express about
blocking images it is not checked.

Outlook Expresss and Outlook are not the same application. Ask in an
Outlook Express newsgroup.
