cannot open file with .doc....says file might be corrupt..

hi...can anyone help me...i downloaded a file that will let me open .doc
attachments...but when i click to open...it says cannot open file may be
corrupt

What file did you download to open the *.doc attachment. Do you have Office
installed at all ?

Since that other program is not Windows Mail, you need to get help from
someplace for that software.

If you're speaking of those downloads from MS - they aren't for this issue
with .doc email attachments - read them carefully. There's some registry
tweaks that have worked for some people. Someone posted today about those
on the Windows Live Mail forum - said they worked. But unless you really
know how to edit the registry I wouldn't recommend just anybody making those
changes. If you find that post and want to try it, backup your registry
first !
