cannot open file message

when I try to open it, it tells me it is not a valid

What do you mean by a "pdf file in a Microsoft Word format"? A
pdf file is one format, and Microsoft Word is another.

PDF files canot be downloaded in Word. It is an incompatible format.

Your original question stated that you could *not* open it in
Word. That's correct. As I said, PDF files are a different format
from Word files. Word doesn't open PDF files.

You're apparently trying to open it in the wrong program.
Download and use the free Adobe Acrobat Reader.
