I have XP Home. I could do this in Win98. For life of me, despite considcerable rfesearch, cannot find anything on how configure Explorer to open Folders View. This matters when you are cutting and pasting documents (Word) between sub-folders - you can't see at once where to paste, but have to clicfk back - extremely irritating. I can of course click on View/Explorer bar/Folders, but it would be soooooo convenient to have this as my default view. Advice/solutions?

Folder Options -> 'File Types' tab -> hi-lite 'Folder' (not 'File Folder') -> click 'Advanced' -> hi-lite 'explore' -> click 'Set Default' -> 'OK' your way out of the dialogs.

The Explorer you open with WinKey + E or from All Programs - Accessories
- Explorer, *ought* to open in that mode.

If it doesn't by opens in 'My Computer' mode, r-click the item in All
Programs. . . (which is a shortcut), take Properties, and set the
'Target' line to
C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe /e,/select,C:\windows

which will open in the 'explorer' mode (/e) and with C: open and windows
pre-selected - adjust to a different folder as desired
