cannot open database

I use abe's HomeBase to list my book collection. A few
days ago I backed-up to a CD (done many times before) and
when I went back to HomeBase the following message
appeared "3197 The Microsoft Jet database stopped the
process because you and another user are attempting to
change the same data at the same time" I am the only user
and now cannot access my HomeBase lists. abe has nothing
to offer at present. Any help, advice welcomed
