cannot open attachments in outlook 2000 from senders with 2003 ou.

i have outlook 2000. over the last year I have from time to time had problems
in receiving attachments from mail senders who have outlook 2003. The mail
content comes as attachment and I cannot see the attachment, such as a excel
sheet or a word doc at all. What can be the problem?
