Cannot Logon to Windows XP Professional

The system boots up fine to the Logon screen. I will double click the Logon
Icon it starts to load fine then after a couple of seconds it kicks me out
back to the Logon screen. I booted up the system in safe mode however it does
the same thing. I booted up the system holding down the F8 key to bring up
the advance boot menu.
I have tired every selection one at a time and still no luck. Any ideas?
