Cannot login screen to display or take password

I have been unable to log into my W2000 Professional
desktop and it hangs up either before displaying login
screen or will display login screen and when I enter login
and password, greys out and does nothing.

Please help!

First try logging on with another account if possible and if you can you may a
corrupt use profile. Otherwise try booting into safe mode to see if it helps. If it
does you have a problem with a driver/startup application and looking in Event Viewer
may help you determine problem. Otherwise boot from the install cdrom and do a repair
installation and select fast repair - follow prompts and select "repair existing
installation" instead of install operating system. --- Steve
