Hello,

I have been using win 2000 for many years with few
problems, but it seems that my profile may have been
corrupted. I try to log on and it says that it cannot
logon and then logs me on in a temporary account. Is
there a way to clean up my old profile? I can log on as
the administrator, but i don't know how to check what is
making that user profile corrput.

I am thinking that i may have to back up all my
information and then reload win 2000, but i still will
lose all of my old settings and cookies...
Thank you

Eric

You can rename it while logged on as another user with local administrative
rights, then when you logon again a new default profile will be created from
an image in \default user. You can then copy the parts you need from the
corrupt profile \Desktop, \Favorites, etc. Don't copy the folders, but copy
their contents instead. Use your mail software's import function to restore
your messages/ address book, etc.
