The mobo is Intel D975XBX2. The chipset is Intel 975X. The hard drives are
both Hitachi Deskstar. I am using the latest Intel RAID software at the F6
prompt and XP Pro never detects the RAID volume. Please help.

What do you detect about whats happening when you press F6? Does it read the
floppy drive copy to the system? Maybe you have a bad copy of the files.

It reads the floppy drive copy of the Intel drivers AFAIK. I can try
downloading a fresh copy. I've tried with the native files on XP Pro and with
the new Intel files and it never works.

I suppose it might also be some physical problem with the drive, but barring
that, it goes without saying I guess that right driver, good file and windows
runs Raid quite well. You can feel confident that thousands of people use a
system just like yours.

What is really weird is, Vista can see the RAID volume just fine but XP Pro
cannot. ????

Then I would guess you need one of the 'older' drivers for your Raid. The
'latest' would probably have Vista in mind.

OK, I downloaded the 32 bit XP Professional driver for the Intel mobo RAID.
I'll try again and update here. Thanks !

What BIOS version do you have?
The newest is BX97520J.86A.2674.2007.0315.1546 and can be obtained here:

The newest RAID: Marvell drivers are on the same page. Read and/or download the
Readme/Release Notes for info on the BIOS release and driver installation.

The Matrix Storage Manager can be obtained here:

Ok, I had a hunch that my RAID installation problem was related to the copy
of XP Pro, since it's an OEM copy by a computer dealer. So, I erased XP Pro
off another machine and used that copy of XP, which is a retail version of XP
Professional. The retail version of XP Professional worked perfectly with the
XP driver for the Intel motherboard. For the record, I have 4 copies of XP at
home and only 4 computers.
