Cannot Install MalwareBytes

When I try to install, I receive screen message saying, "Another
installation is in progress". I do not know what that could be. I
rebooted and again got the same message when trying to install. Is
there a way to identify what is "installing". Task Manager shows
nothing. TIA.

Check the task manager for msiexec.exe if it is listed then end process on
it and try the install again there may be multiple entries for it.

The above was not posted by me, Leythos, it was posted by the unethical
hack, PCBUTTS1 that is impersonating myself and others.

If you have downloaded anything from his NON-Microsoft site, NON-MVP
site, a site known to violate decency standards for hosting pornographic
materials....

You should immediately scan your computer for malicious software.

Check the task manager for msiexec.exe if it is listed then end process on
it and try the install again there may be multiple entries for it.

Checked Task Manager and there was no msiexec - HOWEVER - while I was
trying to install MalwareBytes again, my daughter apparently logged on
to her PC (she's in another state) and that launched the Yahoo IM on
my PC (gave me a message that she just logged on). MalwareBytes
installation then proceeded flawlessly. I'm guessing that the Yahoo
IM that I assumed was dormant was actually in an "installing" state
until it was greeted at the far end by my daughter's logon. Sound
reasonable?

No I don't think so, it was probably just a coincidence unless you actually
started an install of Yahoo.

There is a very good chance that you are seeing the effects of a hijackware
infection!

NB: If you had no anti-virus application installed or the subscription had
expired *when the machine first got infected* and/or your subscription has
since expired and/or the machine's not been kept fully-patched at Windows
Update, don't waste your time with any of the below: Format & reinstall
Windows. A Repair Install will NOT help!

1. See if you can download/run the MSRT manually:
http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx

NB: Run the FULL scan, not the QUICK scan! You may need to download the
MSRT on a non-infected machine, then transfer MRT.EXE to the infected
machine and rename it to SCAN.EXE before running it.

2. [WinXP ONLY!! =>] Run the Windows Live Safety Center's 'Protection' scan
(only!) in Safe Mode with Networking, if need be:
http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/center/howsafe.htm

3. Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting the requested
logs in an appropriate forum, not here.

or other appropriate forums.**

If these procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting
this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.

As you can see from the headers, PCBUTTS1 continues to be unethical and
is still impersonating me.

Abuse reported to att/prodigy.

Then coincidence rules ... unless, of course, you want to take up the
possibility of a conspiracy?

Your reply was to a imposter that is unethical and provides malicious

pornographic material that HE created.

PCBUTTS1 is an unethical, non-MVP, imposter.

Is the Richardson, TX IP the imposter?

I am not an imposter, the other Leythos just does not like anyone using his
name.

As you can see, PCBUTTS is still impersonating me in Usenet. He has said
that nothing can stop him, but he fails to comprehend that his own
actions show him to be the unethical hack that we all say he is.

Abuse complaint filed with att/prodigy.
