cannot install from dos

ok well i open up winnt.exe from the cd in dos and it
copys files need across to c drive(which i just formatted
i then get a messgae saying that: the ms-dos based portion
of setup is complete.
Setup will now restart your computer. After your computer
restarts,
Windows xp will continue.

If there is a floppy disk in drive A:, remove it now.

Press enter to restart your computer and continue windows
XP setup.

*drive a is my floppy disk drive
*i am using win xp pro


so i reformat and take out the floppy disk(a windows 98
startup disk, lads cd drivers)but then nothing happens. it
just loads up and sits there. like it did when the c drive
was empty and no floppy in.

I have used this cd to upgrade from 98 to xp and that
worked so im stuck

Hi,

Sounds like it doesn't recognise the format. Is it
formatted NTFS, FAT 16, or FAT32? Which partition are you
using? The first RECOGNISABLE partition will become C:,
not necessarily the first partion !!!
