Cannot import from outlook.pst

When I try to import Contacts from an outlook.pst file previously used by
this copy of Outlook 2003 I get "The operation failed. An object could not be
found.". What do I need to do to import this file into my current outlook.pst
file?

Do not import. Simply open the the PST with File>Open>Outlook Data File

When I tried to do this a window popps up saying Outlook stopped working.
Then Outlook restarts with the current .pst file, not the one I'm trying to
access. Also, is there no way to add any of the contents of the previous .pst
file to the current one? Thanks for additional help!

Make sure that the PST file you are trying to open does not have the
read-only attribute set. If you still cannot open it, run scanpst
against it (make a backup first).

Once you have both PST files open in Outlook, you can copy
(drag-and-drop) any items from one file to the other. Do not use import!

The PST file I'm trying to open doesn't have the read-only attribute set. I
ran scanpst against it, and it found errors and fixed them. When I reopened
Outlook the file I'm trying to open didn't show, only my current .pst file
showed. When I tried to open the previous file using File>Open>Outlook Data
File I got the same result as before, Outlook restarted with the current
outlook.pst file. Now what?

OK, let's try it from the other end. Close Outlook, and open the Control
Panel's Mail appled. Click Data Files, then add the file with the Add
button. The file should be there when you reopen Outlook.

Following your instructions, when I click on the Add button a window pops up,
and in the "Types of storage:" field the only possible selection shown is
"Business Contact Manager Database". Now what? Thanks for your help!
