Cannot get web in FP 2002 to upload to host server

Darlene

I've been working for over a week's time for hours on end
trying to figure out my problem.
Firstly, Windows XP with Frontpage 2002.
I did a website for a horse group of mine using front page and
uploading it through Godaddy. All went perfectly and it's still
working perfectly. Month later friends asked me to put up a small
website for their farm. Again, using Frontpage 2002 and they
chose Godaddy to host their site. This time I can't connect. I
have tried everything possible. Contacted Godaddy explaining the
problem 10 times and they were always quite helpful in
giving me scenarios to follow. The last time I called
they told me that something in my cache was preventing
the uploading of the farm site (2nd site I was doing). I came into this
newsgroup looking
for help in past postings, but nothing seemed to help with the
exception of finding the wonderful little program FP Cleaner.
Wonderful. Now I can clean the cache and temp files and all
should be well. Not so. Still can't connect to the farm site.
I did go into the control panel of Godaddy and ftp'd from there
just to get their site up and running because I felt badly that
I wasted so much time trying to figure out what I was doing
wrong with FP and not getting them online. I remembered to reset
my front page extensions once again so here I sit trying to figure
this out yet once again for the 100th time. I tried using every ftp program
I could
find and I still can't upload from those programs to the farm site.
I know my user name and password is correct. I've changed them three
times in the past week thinking something was wrong with that.
Called Godaddy and they checked on their end and said the site
was running perfectly for them and all they could assume it to be was
the cache. I'm stumped. Can someone
help me or direct me to where I find some solutions? I've called
two local hosting companies in my immediate area and explained to them the
whole scenario
and offered to pay them to look at my computer
and they said I've checked everything they would have to alleveiate the
problem.
I've uninstalled FP and did a clean install.
I've cleaned out my computer to the hilt. (It was pretty clean to be honest
:) )
Any ideas, anyone?
Thanks and sorry so long winded.

MOST likely if you are trying to Publish via the http:/ method is that the
web does not have the FrontPage Server Extensions installed. GoDaddy is
notorious for saying the are but they are not...also your friend may not
have had them installed.

From your browser type in the url;
http://www.yourfriendsweb.com/_vti_inf.html this should return a page with
some text regarding the extensions, if you get 404'd then they are not. This
is not a fool proof diagnostic because they can be installed but could be
broken if you tried to publish via third-party FTP program.

Rob, this is what I got when I did as you suggested ~~~~~~~
FrontPage Configuration Information
In the HTML comments, this page contains configuration information that the
FrontPage Explorer and FrontPage Editor need to communicate with the
FrontPage server extensions installed on this web server. Do not delete this
page

The troubled site I am dealing with is http://www.7thheavenhorsefarm.com.
Actually, I uninstalled extensions and then reinstalled them each time I
did try using an ftp program by going into the control panel at Godaddy and
uninstalling and reinstalling the extensions. I waited 24 hours each time
vs the suggested 30 minutes by
Godaddy before trying to upload files to the 7thheavenhorsefarm site after
reinstalling the extensions . Should I have done that procedure
differently?
Right now I have all the information they want on the 7thheaven site so I'd
really like to devote my time to figure out why I can't do their site from
FP.
I'm very tenacious at finding a solution and won't give up until I do
regardless
of how much hair I am losing in the process. :)

I went to the godaddy control panel once again this morning after posting to
the newsgroup and checked to make sure the extensions were installed. It
told me they were and then 15 minutes ago I did as you suggested and got the
above message. I'm stumped.

Go here: http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm and download FP Cleaner ( with Expression Web Designer and
SharePoint Designer support )
Download links are at the bottom of the page.
Run the functions that clear:
The Hidden Temporary files.
The Hidden Cache (*.web) files.

Then make sure you publish to http://www.7thheavenhorsefarm.com

See if it helps.
