Cannot get my programs back!

During an uninstallation, I accidentally selected "C:\program files" to
be uninstalled. So instead of uninstalling the pogram I had originally
intended to uninstall, the uninstall program started uninstalling all
the programs I had installed in C:\Program Files. I didn't realize my
mistake until half of my installed programs were uninstalled and
cancelled it. I tried to run system restore, but it would not open.
Please HELP!

Do a repair installation of XP.......that will bring back whatever XP stuff
you uninstalled.
The dig out those CD's and start reinstalling .......................good
luck.

Acronis makes this little program called True Image............a little late
now but there is always next time
do a google

Something is not right here. A legitimate program's uninstaller is designed to remove only that program...it doesn't know how to remove any other program, and it wouldn't remove c:\program files because that's not what an uninstall routine does. So what really happened?
