Cannot get DVD playback through composite output

I have a laptop which has a composite output which enables everything on the
laptop screen to be shown on a television screen too.

This all works fine, and when I play a DVD movie on the laptop, it shows
great on the laptop display in a window, whilst the television shows the
exact same information as the laptop EXCEPT that the window where the dvd is
being played back on the laptop only shows as a blank black square on the
television.

I was hoping that I could use the laptop to play the dvd's onto the
television.

I have tried four different dvd player software packages and they all
produce the same results.

Is it possible to play DVD media through the composite output to a
television?

I am using NVidia GeForce4 on a toshiba laptop.
WindowsXp Pro.

Try updating your graphic drivers - www.nvidia.com
The second thing to check is your primary output in your display settings.
