"Cannot Find Server"

Trying to install Sony camcorder USB drivers, I found out
that after the installation I could not view web pages,
no matter which site I went to. The modem would dial amd
connect to my ISP but then the status bar would
report "finding site (IP Address)", then the "Cannot Find
Server" page would show.

I used system restore to revert back to the point before
I installed the drivers and this cured the problem. A
reinstall of the drivers did the same thing as before, so
I assume that something somewhere is being changed.

Does anyone know of any settings that may have been
changed either in the Registry or in IE or what the
problem might be. I'm running XP Home (no SP1). The
drivers are not digitally signed for use with XP although
the installation instructions say it can be used with it.
