Cannot find server -The page cannot be displayed error for certain sites in IE6.

This only happens to me with a handful of sites I try to access in
IE6. I'm running XP Pro with all the updates and no firewall but am
using a wireless router at home on a college campus network.

The pages just time out and give me this error. I can't ping the
websites that give me the error either. I've seen many of the
Microsoft Knowledge base articles but none have helped. Is this a
registry problem? I've tried the hosts file approach as well.

Also, the sites I've noticed this problem with are random but usually
home pages for large businesses such as www.crutchfield.com, or
www.ual.com. I CAN get to the front page of crutchfield but not
beyond. I have an old desktop running win 98 on my home network that
has no problems accessing the same sites.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have been having the same problem.
I am in an office environment running WIN Xp Through SBS 2000.
I am the administrator and I know that I have not block the sites.
Sites such as www.hp.com and www.3com.com are unreachable.
If I ping www.hp.com iget the following:
Pinging www.hpgtm.speedera.net [161.114.22.79] with 32 bytes of data:

Do you by chance have a HOSTS file redirecting?

No, I've checked my hosts file and it looks fine. There are no entries at all in it.

I have no idea what is causing this problem.

Any help out there would be appreciated.
