Last night an update appeared on my windows update for service pack 1 for
x64 (which I am running).....it twice failed to download correctly. Today I
have been searching for this update and cannot find it anywhere, not on the
microsoft site...can anybody shed some light on this?

One possibility is you have a prerequisite download to perform before it
will show up again. Make sure you have downloaded all the drivers etc that
are listed for your machine. Many drivers are required for SP1 to become
listed

T5,

Microsoft mistakenly made SP1 available to certain users of X64
operating systems. Microsoft has corrected this and the update is no longer
available to you. You can search for it but you will not find it.

Funny, I got is through MS Update yesterday, on a clean install of Vista 64
bit, with no registry hacking either.
