Cannot embed picture in body of email

I have surfed the net and cannot find the solution. I have 'repaired" Outlook
with the original discs. But problem is still there. I even updated Office
(SP3) via Microsoft.

I have ticked HTML and "insert picture from Internet" options. But when I
click "insert - picture" nothing happens. Could it be the Avast! antivirus or
the ZoneAlarm firewall that has de-activated this function. Running Win XP
(SP3) Professional and Outlook 2000. I can attach but not embed.

I tested Outlook express and the same thing - cannot embed the picture.
Please help!

Uncheck the "Send picture from Internet" option. That doesn't do what you want.

Start the message by using Actions | New Messaging Using | HTML (No Stationery).

You didn't say whether you're using Word as your email editor. You might want to try it both ways. (And it works both ways here.)

Hi Sue,
I did as you said , unchecked the "send picture...". I did also as you
suggested, i.e., "Actions >New message> HYML (No stationery) and now I can
insert a picture.
I have never used Word as an editor for email, but will try it.
Thank you for the assistance - must be the hot weather here in Pretoria,
South Africa, that is affecting my brain! regards, Bill
