cannot edit video content of some .vob files

When I import a .vob file, the icon indicates it contains
only audio data, however, it actually contains both audio and
video. It can even play the video correctly in the preview
section. But when I drag the clip to the timeline, it inserts
only an audio track.
I get this behaviour for some files, while others work
correctly.

Sounds like MPEG2 files and related codec issues. I have a page devoted to
