Cannot edit registry the change remote desktop port number

Joe

My computers at home are behind a router and I have to use port forwarding
to allow remote desktop from my work location. As part of the set up - I
have to change the port my router points to as remote desktop by default
uses port 3389 - so my 2nd machine needs to have 3390, 3rd machine 3391, and
so on.

Normally you just change the port number in the registry for remote desktop
and make sure router is pointing to correct ip and port number and your good
to go. Vista won't allow me to change this setting - I'm admin on box -
what gives?

Hi,

Change/add permissions on that registry key for your user account, currently
you either have no access to it, or only read permissions. You need to be
able to write to it. Right click the rdp-tcp key and select permissions to
do this.

I am trying to do the same thing...changing my remote desktop port to 3390.
I have replaced all the portnumber entries in regedit to 3390, but still
nothing. I have opened the port on the router. 3389 works great on one of
the computers on my network, but I can't get it work on the Vista box. What
am I missing?
