Cannot download updates

Hi,
Using XP with Service Pack 2, Zone Alarm, Avast virus scanner. My question
is I was getting automatic updates up until April 16, then nothing. I have
gone to System> Automatic Updates, everything checked. Have gone on line to
review my updates which stop at April 16. My husband uses the same XP CD on
his computer and he continues to receive updates. Can you tell me why this
may be happening?
Thanks, Patti

Hi;

If you and your husband are using the "exact" same XP (with the very
same key to install it) then one of you is using an illegal copy. That
may be why you are having problems on your machine. One CD+Key = 1
computer.

Hi, thanks for answering. We purchased this XP CD and my husband put it on
his machine and activated it. Then put it on my machine and we had to
activate by phone. We have been told you can use XP on two computers per
household.
As I said, I did get updates for about two months, but nothing since April
16.
Any comments?

Patti;
You have two probably unrelated problems.
Windows is licensed for only one computer, you were told wrong.
Some versions of Microsoft Office allow installation on more than one
computer but no consumer version of Windows has ever allowed this.
Read the EULA for details:
Start/Run
Type "winver" ENTER
Click "End User..."

Follow the Windows Update Checklist for your update error:

Hi,
We certainly did not understand the XP CD was for one computer only. I have
not had time to go thru all the steps from the links you suggested. I
suppose it is VERY IMPORTANT to get updates? I never did with 98 and had
no problems.
Thanks for your help.
