Cannot do a system restore

My granddaughter was here for the holidays and installed Kazaa (I did pay for
it) and updated MSN to 7.0. Now I have a bunch of e-mail links on my
desktop and in my favorites and am unable to get rid of them. Clicking the
right mouse button doesn't work at all on these dang things. So after much
fooling around with spybot, ad-aware, etc. trying to get rid of them I
thought the only thing to do is a system restore. I have gone back well
before she was here and it won't restore to any of the dates I have tried.
Any suggestions?

Hi

One or more of the System Restore files could have been corrupted - try
turning SR off/on - but I'm afraid that you will lose any existing
checkpoints:

Right click My Computer, select Properties and then the System Restore tab.
Enable 'Turn off System Restore on all drives' and reboot your PC. After
that 1st reboot go back into SR and disable 'Turn off System Restore on all
drives' and reboot your PC again. After that 2nd reboot you should have one
new SR checkpoint.

Rule #1.. do NOT allow installation of any program of which you have little
knowledge..

Rule #2.. before allowing anybody near your computer, make it clear that you
are quite happy with the way things are..

Rule #3.. never allow the installation of anything BETA.. in this case, MSN
v7..

Uninstall Kazaa using the ADD/REMOVE facility.. ensure that you check any
boxes to uninstall ALL of Kazaa and its sponsor/support stuff..

Uninstall MSN v7 using the ADD/REMOVE facility..

Rule #4.. never, ever allow the re-installation of Kazaa, Bearshare, or any
other program like it

Run Adaware after doing the previous uninstalls..

Now go to this site.. http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/ .. this will take you
to the Spyware Blaster download facility.. download, run, update and run the
program again..

You can now take a deep breath and start to relax, until the next time..

Good luck
