Cannot Delete or Empty Deleted Items Folder

When I try to "empty" the deleted items folder, it goes through everything,
but will not delete my junk. Is anyone else having this problem?

I can delete the emails one by one... but that takes forever when you are
talking about 400 emails.

Does anyone have a solution to my problem?

If you have difficulty deleting messages, apply this Microsoft fix:

Although that article only mentions Outbox, it works for all mail folders.
