Cannot delete message with a wrong e-mail addess

I tried to send a message with the wrong e-mail addres.
Now, whenever I click on send/receive -- the error message comes up for that
old message. How can I get rid of it?

Move the offending message from the Outbox into the Drafts box.

Then double click on the message in the Drafts box and correct the address, or delete the message.
