Cannot delete macro

I had at one time three or four macros in a spreadsheet, but ended up
deleting them when I found a better way to format some imported data.
However, whenever I open my excel file, I receive the message asking me to
enable or disable macros. Once I open the file - whether I enable or disable
them - and select Macros from the Tools option, no macros are displayed. Any
ideas? The macros do actually seem to be deleted, but something is not
recognizing this.
 
Hi Donna,

You have not removed the module that housed those macros. Press <Alt><F11>,
click on Module 1 (Most likely), then click on File|Remove Module1.
