cannot delete fonts

I am using Windows XP Home. When I go into Control Panel and Fonts and
delete a font, it automatically reappears, as if I can't delete it. If I go
to Windows and Fonts folders and delete the unwanted font, I receive the
message that the font "Cannot delete. Access is denied. Make sure that the
disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in
use."
Can you please tell me what I need to do in order to delete all of these
unwanted fonts?
Thanks
Kelly

here is a helpful link:

http://search.microsoft.com/results.aspx?mkt=en-US&form=MSHOME&setlang=en-US&q=cannot+delete+fonts

there are a couple of fonts used
by the system and you would incur
a dysfunctional o.s.

but if you are sure they are safe
to remove, you might want to
try deleting them in safemode or
via cmd prompt.

What are the fonts? If they are system fonts they are protected - and
there would be no good reason to remove them anyway. Some of these links
may help:
