I am trying to delete a file and everytime I hit the
delete button up pops a message saying the "File is in
use by a person or program, close that program before
deleteing the file"

it's a movie file and there are no movie players running!!

Also, when this happens the CPU usage in task manager
flies upto 100% and my system grinds to a halt.

I've tried running in safe mode, logging on as
administrator, and also tried file permissions but to no
avail.

please please please help me

Regards

Hi Brian,

Open the media player, remove that file from the playlist. Then close and
retry deleting that file.

Hi Rick,

Thanks for the advice, but it didn't work, the file isn't
shown in any playlists.

Brian

What type of file are you deleteing? If you go into the program
that created the file, and temporarily change the folder for it's
data files to another folder, then close the dialog, and the
program, you should ten be able to delete that file. This happens to
me in media players, and word procesors all the time. The above does
work. Also try to restart the system after the changes.

Additional -- Try removing the file from you MP2 library (Mplayer2)
aka Mplayer 9
