Hi,
I am not able to delete files, even though I am logging in
as administrator. I am unable to change permissions for the
files either from read only to read and write.

Any suggestions as to why this is happening or how I can
get around this ?

cheers

Thanks, however I don't find the security tab in my

to enable or get it back ?

Thanks

Finally got this to work, had to disable the simple file
sharing from tools/Folder Options/ view and then had to
change file owner and file permissions to fix this.

Thanks to everyone for all your help on this.

Hi,

For WinXP Pro, go to folder options/view and uncheck the line for simple
file sharing.

For WinXP Home, you need to restart in Safe mode and logon as administrator.

If you are using XP Pro; go to Folder Options - View and uncheck 'Simple
file sharing'

If you are using Home, then Simple File Sharing, with no security tab,
is all it supports. This provides privacy for each user to his/her own
'Documents', but no specific control beyond that
