Cannot delete a share resource

Hi...
On a Win2K DC server with SP2, I created a share of the cd drive, under the
share name of cd-rom. When I tried to delete the share, I got the message "An
error occurred while trying to delete share cd-rom. This share resource does
not exist." I tried also from the Manage-Shared Folders-Shares with but I got
the message "Error 2310: This shared resource does not exist". I even tried
from cmd with the net share command (net share cd-rom /delete) but it didn't
work either end the error message was again 2310. I cannot reboot the server
or advance sto SP4. When I searched to Microsoft for Error 2310, it only said
to check the spelling (which I did).
Any ideas ?????

You can force the issue by deleting the share directly from
the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\Shares

Thanks for answering...
There is not any key in the registry for the share in the path you wrote me...

So what exactly makes you think that the share exists? Please quote all
error messages (if any) verbatim.

And what exactly do you see under this registry location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\Shares

I can see the share at Manage-Shared Folders-Shares, so I assume it exists. I
cannot test if it is active because it is cd-rom and it is currently empty
(it is a remote server).
All the error messages are shown in the original post in quote (if I
understood correctly what you want).
At the registry path I can see all the other shares (printers, folders)
except from the one I want.

It seems something strange happened when you created this
share. Search the whole registry for the string "cd-rom".
Judicious deletion of these occurrances should fix your problem
(if, in fact, it is a problem rather than just a nuisance).
