Cannot creater an internet connection

I uninstalled a program that itunes installed and suddenly I lost my internet
connection. I opened the Control Panel and the Internet Icon was missing. I
tried to recreate it using the wizard. I selected doing it manually and when
I clicked finish, nothing happened. It was as if I never started the wizard.

At first I was getting the Acquiring a Network Address in my Local Network
Connection and it would not end.

Finally, somehow I got the Local network connection to connect but cannot
get the Internet connection to connect.

Any help would be appreciated.

I forgot to mention that I am using Windows XP Pro with SP2.
IE ver 7.
Router D-Link I624

I am Hard wired into the router

Two other computers using wireless connections to the router are working
just fine.

I have been running successfully since January 2008 with IE 7

The Internet was working fine this morning.

I tried rebooting the router and modem.

What program? AFAIK, iTunes doesn't install any other programs; iTunes *is*
a program. In any case, since this was a sudden change, do a System Restore
to before iTunes installed whatever you think it was and before you
uninstalled the mystery thingie. That should bring you back to when things
worked.

Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore

"Restore my computer to an earlier time"

Perhaps you mean Bonjour networking? However, I haven't come across
that causing anyone a problem before.

Generally speaking, if Internet connections get screwed by
uninstalling programs it is often down to layered service providers so
you might try running LSPfix at some stage to see if that resolves the
issue.
