Some names are reserved at times and can't be used. Others may be already
used- have you set explorer to view hidden and system files?

I've checked that already. I can see ALL system protected files!
My XP Home doesn't show this problem. They use the very same anti-virus &
Windows Defender bate 2 of same version. Could that be new Trojan?

You really need to read the virus/spyware writers websites to see if they
have any news, or go to a relevant newsgroup and ask.

Do you have permissions set the same on both machines?

'sys', along with 'com1', 'com2', 'lpt1', etc., etc., is one of the
reserved system device driver names. That's why you cannot create
it.

Have you tried it? I created a folder called "sys" in my C: drive on windows
XP without any problem.

Sys is not as reserved name. AUX, CON, NUL and PRN are reserved names. I
can create a folder named sys on my desktop.

Don't know exactly, I have Full Control on every partion. Will the ownership
matter?
I can create folder with names other than "sys" anyway.

To be clearer:

1. I got 2 XP SP2 systems (Home & Pro) installed on partion C & D;
2. They are using the very same anti-virus & anti spy software;
3. I've set to C all the Hidden files on both XP, & have Full Control on
them;
4. I can create folder "sys" in Home anywhere I want, but cannot in Pro;
5. The folder "sys" created by Home, won't show up in Pro;
6. Not so relevent: My Pro affected Trojan 2 weeks ago, I tried several
anti-spy
softwares (Iparmor, Security Task Manager ), then kept Windows
Defender
Bate 2.

Still in figuring out the possible causes. Expecting a Expert show up soon!

I don't really know, I thought it was a possible cause worth considering as
there are restrictions placed on user accounts- something with sys sounds
like it would be barred.

I've the same problem...There was a trojan downloader on my XP Pro,
that downloads several trojans into my box. I've used several spyware
removal tools (Adaware, Spyware Doctor, Hijackthis) and antivirus
software (Avast, McAffee, AVG), they states the removal was successful,
but it doesn't help this problem. I cannot create folders named
"s","sy","sys", and I cannot delete folders, even when they are empty.
There is hard disk activity, "services.exe" reads continuously the hard
disk content (monitoring with SysInternals.com FileMon.exe utility).
I've disabled most of the services that can cause disk activity (web
server, indexing server, antivirus etc...), but there is some hidden
service... I cannot determine which service access continuosly my hard
disk drives. I think it is a new root kit, that can't be detected by
antivirus/spyware tools.

Thanks for the link. RootkitRevealer shows that nearly 40% of my files
are hidden from WinAPI!? These are really my files, documents, movies,
etc... not just files that part of a rootkit. And yes, I cannot delete
those files. So there is a background process, that tries to hide all
of my files...I've tried several antivirus/spyware tool, but they
didn't help. Something is working in the background...

Finally, I've reinstalled the system.

OMG, I've the same thing happened too. Haven't think it could be spywaew!
U must be very upset! I've checked my PC, not that bad, then, around 100 or
200 items are warned by RootkitRevealer. Still hope there is other way out
beside Reinstall XP.
