Jim

Trying to upgrade from Windows 98SE to Windows 2000
Professional. After I click "upgrade" and on the next page
enter the cd key and click next I get 2 error messages.
(1)-cannot copy mfc42.dll to c:\windows\setup and
(2)- cannot copy migisol.exe to c:\windows\setup.
then it goes to the finish screen. Can someone help me?

Hi Jim,
Most likely source of these errors is a smudged or scratched Windows 2000
Professional CD. Check the "data side" of the CD, and clean it carefully if
appropriate. If it's scratched, there are kits available at computer retail
stores which might remove the scratches (or you can have this professionally
done at a computer shop).

Could also be due to bad blocks on the hard disk; run the Windows 98
Scandisk utility to find any mark any bad blocks before attempting the
upgrade again.
