Cannot contact LDAP Directory server (81)

Hello,

I have Outlook 2003 and evertime I open up my contacts list I get the
following message (Cannot contact LDAP Directory server (81))

I do not have active directory running on my home network, so how do I
change the program so it looks at my contacts list first instead of the
activive directory list.

Thanks
Dan

Remove the LDAP and add the Outlook Address Book in its place.
I assume that's what you would rather use.

This could only have happened if you had not installed Outlook correctly.
How did you install it?

Hello Again,

I installed it from CD. How would uninstall just the LDAP?

Thanks,
Dan

Installing from the CD tells me nothing. Did you install clean or try to
update over an earlier version?
To configure you Outlook Address Book, just follow the directions:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;287563&Product=ol2002
You'll find the place to remove the LDAP there, too.

I have this problem as well and I installed as an upgrade over Outlook2000.
It's especially annoying when syncing my PDA with active sync because the
error messages keep on popping up and errors can't be resolved.
Can you explain a little more what LDAP server means, (translation please)
I'm a little bit surprised that the new Outlook does not give you a quick
selection option at installation or first start-up. This should somehow be
fixed though.
