The TCP/IP protocol v4, the wireless client, if required. Last step
before you run and jump out the window, uninstall the adapter, reboot
and let windows discover and reinstall the adapter, if you haven't
already...jumped out the window I mean.

LOL, you are not kidding about the jumping out the window part!! This
is the first vista machine I have tried to get working on the wireless
here and it's been agonizing. Alas, no joy. I'm not fond of vista
right now.
Perhaps the extraordinary steps you have taken to mask your IP address
to elude detection of any kind has left you an unverifiable entity
invisible to all but the unprotected. He he he

lol :)

Just install LELA on a machine that can connect to router (Ethernet or
WI-FI - reset router for WI-FI if necessary); then, use LELA to Add A New
Device/Computer to Network. LELA will generate a config. file that you put
on a flash stick and transfer to the Vista machine. Guess you can delete
present connection anyways since it does not work.

Nice, I didn't know it could do that. Is going from XP to Vista going
to be a problem for the profile to work? Thanks.

I tried this and in order to find out how to use LELA for this purpose,
I had to get on Linksys support chat. So I did that and the guy said I
can't do this (transfer settings electronically), but I can print the
settings in order to input them into another computer. So I followed
his instructions for that and I received an unhandled exception error,
in which case he told me to call support.

I also tried doing this through Intel which was about as difficult to
export and import the profile, but at least I figured out how to do it
eventually and it is still not working, still giving me the same error
message, "The settings saved on this computer for the network do not
match the requirements of the network." I get this error exportng from
an XP machine that has the same adapter and is connected to the same
wireless network.

If you or anyone else has any more suggestions, I'll try anything once!
:) Thanks.

I have LELA Ver. 3.0 (build 8122.29) Platform Ver. 10.1.8116.1 on Vista U
and does transfer on removable media - gives an option to save as file on
HDD as well. Here's the final LELA screen:

"Follow these instructions:
1. Unplug the removable media device from your computer.
2. Insert the removable media device into the XP or Vista computer you want
to add to your wireless network.
3. Once recognized, open the removable media device drive and double click
on setupSNK.exe program. Follow the directions in the wizard.
4. Repeat steps 2-3 for each wireless XP or Vista computer you want to add.
Click Finish to exit the wizard."

Anyways, it does not seem to work either way you input the settings.

A horrible (low skill, time consuming, that is) way would be to downgrade to
XP, connect successfully to router and then upgrade to Vista. If it works,
you can save settings and do a clean Vista install etc.

Very true, but I don't think that will work because my only copy of
vista is the OEM that came with this laptop so I don't think it's
possible to upgrade with it. Our next step is to down one of our
current "certified Vista compatible" WAPs and mess around with the
settings until we find out how vista can connect to it wirelessly. Next
step after that is too purchase a new wireless router in order to see if
that works better with vista. I'm really sick of dealing with this
issue and vista's problems, but I am very greatful for all your help
you've given!! Thanks again.
