Cannot connect via network connections.

Can't connect via a modem that is ok in another PC. I have a dell Optiplex
GX400. I upgraded to WinXP pro and have had problems ever since.

in network connections
new connection
wizard appears and press next
choose "connect to the internet" press next
choose "Set up my connection manually" press next
Both "connect using a dial up connection" and "connect using a broadband
connection" are faint leaving me only with the option to "connect using a
broadband option" which is not the one I want.

The modem is connected correctly but i don't know if thats the problem.

I have re-installed through the repair function the network connections but
still can't connect.

Hey Phil

I have tried both step 1 & step 2 including re-installation of XP Pro and i
still cannot get the faint text as previously described. I have checked
through the registry and the telephony registry is still removed.

Have you any other thoughts as to what it can be now that i have done
everthing asked.

Phil I take it all back. I restarted the PC and HEY PRESTO - Your a genius.
