Cannot connect to secure sites

Help please. Trying to sort out a problems for a friend who's not very PC
literate. I dont have XP so I cant give remote assistance.

Problem is they are unable to open secure sites. eg bank account, MSN,
various online shopping sites. They have installed SP2 and gone through the
MS KB items on Secure site access that take you through removing Cookies,
Temp Internet files etc without success. Whenever they try to access a
secure site or MSN they get "page cannot be displayed" etc

Also discovered they have an "Account Unknown" in the profiles. Found this
in MS KB http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=312131 but still not solved
problem.

Any help very much appreciated.

SP2 has changed the default settings for Security in the 'Internet Zone'
so it has this result on a number of legitimate sites. The solution is
to make those sites 'trusted' ones (provided that you *do* trust them,
like a bank one).

In Control Panel - Internet Options - Security, highlight 'Trusted
sites' and click Sites. Type the URL concerned into the top pane - eg
https://www.bankname.com - and click Add. If the site is http not https
you will need to uncheck the box at the bottom 'require server
verification'
