Cannot connect to multiple networks

I am having trouble with connecting to more than one network. I have two
networks, one wired network, and one wireless. The wired one is just a local
network, the wireless is connected to the internet. In Windows XP, it was no
problem connecting to both, just connect the two adapters, and everything
worked. In Windows Vista, I can't connect to them both. I have to make a
choice between them, so if I want to connect to the internet, I have to
remove the network cable (or disable the wired adapter), and when I connect
the cable again, the internet is disappeared.

I tried the Vista Troubleshooter, and it said I had more than one active
network connection. That's true, but that shouldn't be a problem. I can't
find very much information on the internet, the only thing I found is that I
had to install new drivers for my linksys wireless adapter. I did that, first
from the linksys website, that didn't work, then from Windows Update, that
didn't work either, and at last updates for my VIA (some onboard adapter)
network card from Windows Updates, but neither that worked.

I'm pretty stuck here, and although I am a system administrator, I can't
find out why it doesn't work. Any ideas?

What are the security zones for each network adapter. The local intranet
should be set to Private, and the connection to the internet should be set to
public. This link will explain the difference and how to check.

Also make sure that only the wireless internet connection has a default
gateway set and the private wired does not. This could cause you to send
packages to the internet to the wrong gateway. If you have any networks
asides the one attached to the local network you will need to use routing
statements. What type of devices are you connecting to?

Wow Spenceation, that solved my problem! I have tried for hours to switch
between public and private network, gateways, DHCP and static adresses, and
after all... just a combination of those two changes, and everything works!

My problem is a little bit different. I usually use may laptop at home and
office. When I tried hook my network at home, it is usually make multiple
network. One is the correct one, and one is unidintified one. The solution is
just disable and unable the network connection and it is back to normal. But
it is very inconvinient because sometime I must do unable-disable trick
several time before it work. Any suggestion?

Is also could be routing issue. Post ipconfig /all and routing table here
may help.
