We have four users on a machine... three can connect. The other returns the
message "opened exclusively by another user or you need permission to view
its data." This user can access the backend folder, see the file, but
cannot open it. He has fu;ll permissions on the folder itsself and can
create, delete, edit, etc new and exiting files. Just cant open this .mdb
file. What am I missing?? Thanx - David

Can I ask some questions along with you ...

There is only one machine
4 different people sit at the same machine at different times in order to
use it
Do they have different logons to the machine or network
Does the db itself have any security, password, or logon
Can anyone else have the db open while yet another person is trying to open it

a) Jet isn't reliable enough to act as a doorstop
b) move to SQL Server / Access Data Projects
c) fire anyone still using MDB and then spit on them

hope that helps

Yes - different user names & pwsd on the network - no db security - other
users can use file from different machines. Often times 2 or 3 users on
simultaneoulsy from different machines. I'm going thru server security again
to see what shakes out
