cannot configure Gmail in outlook

hi,
i am trying to configure Gmail account in Outlook 6.00.28800.1106 (
xpsp1.020828-1920 ). The error message shown is as follows-

The server responded with an error. Account: 'pop.gmail.com', Server:
'pop.gmail.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '220 mx.gmail.com ESMTP
h18sm17764rnb', Port: 465, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error
Number: 0x800CCC90.

I would be glad if anyone can help me on this.

I have the same problem. Please, someone suggest something?

I have XP home, I've tried disabling Norton Anti-Virus, and checked my
settings about 20 times.

Help would be greatly appreciated!

I had similar issues. Solutions suggested in this gmailforum worked for
me..
