If you installed the Vista SP1 update, that package includes many of the
earlier updates.

Before you give up and try to uninstall it, try this: Start Windows Mail.
Click on Tools, then Windows Contacts. Right click in the empty space
under the right end of the toolbar, then click on Customize This Folder,
then the triangle, then Contacts, then Apply, then OK, then close the
contacts window.

thanks robert. while waiting for your help, i looked once again at installed
updates and lo and behold found the KB933928 update way back on 9/7/07. my
computer was in repair shop last week and evidently they went back to a
previous version of updates and reinstalled. anyway, i uninstalled it again
and now my email and contacts were fine again. problem solved. do you like
thunderbird email. i've thought about switching to that to avoid all these
quirks with winmail.
thanks again for all your help. appreciate the quick response.

changing emails. but i do have another question. i have peachtree
accounting software installed on my laptop (vista home premium). and when i
close out of peachtree, a box pops up that says "there are updates
(peachtree) ready to be installed on your computer, please have the
administrator sign in and install them. I AM the administrator. no one else
