Cannot burn CD's

I can copy data files and files less than 1mb to cd using the cd writing wizard. When image files are larger I get a message that an error has occurred and the file cannot be saved and use Task Manager to restart system. I can save large image files to CD's using Roxio software so my CD burner is okay. System restore could find no problems. Should I give up or keep trying to repair system?
 
If you have third party burning software installed you may have to disable
XP's native software or you could have unpredictable problems. So you might
have to choose to use either the roxio product or XP's native burning
software. Check Alex Nichol's site here http://www.aumha.org/a/xpcd.htm as
he has an excellent page on CD burning with XP.
