cannot browse internet

The child downloaded the virtual bouncer spyware.
I downloaded and used www.spysweeper.com to remove it.
Then my internet connection was totally gone.
I uninstalled SpySweeper.
I kept getting "Common User Session Client encountered a problem" with
ccapp.exe
I reinstalled WindowsXP and also Norton System Works.
I still cannot browse the internet.
My network connections are enabled and functioning.

How do I get back online?
Neither IE or OE get connected.

How did you reinstall XP?

If you just installed it over itself that might not be
sufficient.
