Cannot browse any http site, but ftp works fine.

Running Windows XP Internet Explorer 6. IE gives a "cannot find server"
error when attempting to visit any http website. Visiting ftp sites work
just fine. Other internet apps such as chat programs work fine as well.
Any ideas?
 
Thx, but it seems like most of the solutions on the first link apply mainly
to Windows 9x.
